Don't waste your money on this book. This is very very very basic information that you can get from Google or even an old med surg book. "Keep a stash of dark chocolate on hand. They are a good source of antioxidants and energy." This is a quote from the book. This basically how this whole book is written. Again, save your money.
This is a great first choice book, for very fast info. But is should be used with a more thorough book like: Sheehy's Emergency Care. Sheehy's has a lot more in depth information. But this book is fast, to the point, and directs you in what to look up, it is also smaller and easier to take to a fast-food restaurant so you can study while you eat.
Upon graduating from nursing school, I immediately applied for ER jobs and landed one at the big local trauma center. I decided I didn't want to go in completely blind, and nursing school barely touched emergency nursing which is a specialty in its own right, so I downloaded this on my Android tablet. This is the most understandable, short sweet and to-the-point book I've found, and I enjoyed reading it! I start Monday and feel much more comfortable walking into work now. I may not know a fraction of what I need to (which is why we are trained for six months), but at least if I'm asked any questions I'll have an intelligent, educated answer!
If you are a graduate nurse or new to the ED, this book is a MUST HAVE!! Much of the information in this book was covered in my ED orientation. This book gave me the working knowledge that I needed to jump start my ED training. Plus, this book provides a patho and nursing intervention review, including common meds used in the ED. Great book, highly recommend it if you are entering the ED.
Some good facts starting out as an ER nurse. Reading this helped keep me settled after a long shift as a new nurse. I appreciate this book and the tips and do recommend.
Great for new nurses and great for those nurses who want to review quickly. Very well written and easy to study.
This was a really good book to guide the new grad ER nurse! It was helpful for me to have a quick reference for questions about ER nursing. I always have it with me at work. I recommend it!
This book is very helpful...I ordered an extra one for my friend as well. Cheers!
