The photography is outstanding and the stories give insight into places that are seen, but the history known to a few. A great read and a keeper for sure. It is a great addition to any Florida History collection or for anyone that enjoys history and photos of forgotten places.
If you are a fan of photography a fan of history and defiant a fan urban photography you'd love this book. It conical's what was Miami's past with certain area's of the touristy and the past home life with some wonderful stories that will keep you intrigued for more. This book is perfect for your home library or as a gift. Enjoy this book as much as we did. Cheers

Dade County was created in 1836 and Miami was incorporated in 1896, a newbie when compared to US cities such as New York, Chicago and Philadelphia. And yet, within a little more than a century of history, Miami has experienced the social upheavals, political corruption and, of course, the abandoned buildings equal to its older northern brethren.David Bulit begins this historical narrative with the construction of the Tamiami Trail, the roadway linking Tampa to Miami. He finishes his story describing the uncertain future of the Coconut Grove Playhouse and the Miami Marine Stadium. His writing is concise, accurate and current (as of its publication date in 2015). The audience for this book is primarily residents of South Florida but the chapters on 'Vice and Greed' and 'Preservation' will appeal to a much wider audience.This 154 page book is loaded with photos and does not take long to read. But the images and thoughts will stay with you for a long time.
If you enjoy urban exploring and abandoned places as much as I do, the this is the book for you.This book is about abandoned places in Miami, many of which of which I had no clue about! Along with photos of each place, there is detailed history as well to along with them.
Beautiful book with extensive background on the people and events surrounding places of a time gone by. Having grown up in the Miami area, some of these places were my memories. To see them gone into disrepair beyond hope is sad, but the history and eeriness is fascinating.Bulit risks life and limb documenting these places, as the roof is collapsing right over the camera in some photographs. Will you join him?
Got this book personally from David (the author) and it is fantastic. He is a great photographer so you get more than just stories. Definitely a beautiful book you don't hide away in your book shelf.
Amazing book with awesome pictures... This book answers questions about well known places that have lost their prime... But haven't lost our attention... It documents what they were then and now..... I can't wait for another city to be featured... Great job and a fun read
