About the Author
Ken Rideout has a B.S. in Honors Physics from Purdue University and an M.S. in Physics from Carnegie Mellon University. He has been teaching high school physics for more than fifteen years in the Boston area and is currently the science department head at Wayland High School in Wayland, MA.Jonathan Wolf has taught all levels of physics at both the secondary school and college level for over 36 years. He spent 25 of those years teaching physics at Scarsdale High School in Scarsdale, New York and retired from there in 2014. He has taught introductory college physics lectures and introductory college physics labs as a member of the adjunct faculty at Hofstra University, Seton Hall University, and most recently at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, New Jersey. He is the author of the former Barron's AP Physics B review book, Barron's College Review: Physics, and was a co-author of the former version of Barrons SAT Physics Subject Test Review. He has published over forty professional papers in the fields of Astronomy, Physics, and Physics Education and served for more than ten years as Assistant Editor for The Science Teachers Bulletin published by the Science Teachers Association of New York State (STANYS).

This is a small-ish book that goes over the formulas and concepts of 2nd year Physics, in preparation for the AP test .. or for those who want a quick recap ( very helpful to prepare for college, as well ). 2nd year physics is roughly electromagnetism, magnetism in general, optics, circuits, and thermodynamics. While, of course, it doesn't go too much into theory, it will give you the ability to understand the latter topics quite well conceptually and be able to calculate (by hand or with a calculator) functions pertaining to them.Most of the book is comprised of testing, which is the last half (or more) of the book. It is a very nice preparation for a Physics 2 test because it forces you to use formulas.A quick, and clear, AP physics book for students wishing to prepare for testing, or to even see if they like the subject.
My daughter got a 5 on the AP Physics 1 last year (as a freshman). She needs to decide whether to take AP Physics 2 next year and perusing this book will help her decide that (and then prepare for the test). This books appears to be very well organized with Barron's usual great layout. We always appreciate the "diagnostic test" at the beginning which helps the student realize where they need the most review (and where they don't). There are 8 chapters that review course content, and 5 full practice tests (including 2 that are online). Hopefully this book will be as helpful in prepping her for AP Physics 2 as the previous book was!
